Sparkettes NSW & ACT, established in 2018, is a vibrant and trailblazing network dedicated to supporting women in the electrical trades and industry.

As part of the broader Sparkettes community, which spans across Victoria, Queensland, Northern Territory, and Western Australia, our focus is to provide a unique platform tailored specifically for women working in the electrical trades.

Our mission goes beyond just increasing female representation in these industries. We are passionate about empowering women to be catalysts for change, to forge deep and lasting connections with their peers who share similar experiences, and to unlock their potential in the electrical trades.

 

We organise annual tours of various electrical workplaces. These tours are designed to not only offer women a firsthand look at life in different sectors but also aim to boost female engagement in employment opportunities, including apprenticeship programs. A remarkable example of this was our 2021 tour of Bluescope, where over 50% of participants secured on-site roles within the subsequent 12 months.

 

We're committed to nurturing the next generation of female electricians as well. Through school visits, we educate students about pathways to an electrical trade, helping them make informed decisions about subject selections for the best possible outcomes.

 

At Sparkettes, we understand the importance of giving back to the community. That's why we actively raise funds for charities like Share the Dignity, making a positive impact beyond our professional endeavours. Moreover, we're dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging among women in the electrical trades, ensuring they never feel alone in their journey.

We have an established network of hundreds of women from within the industry, along with registered training organisations, employers and trade unions from within the industry.
